WE HAVE NAMES!
I'm just amazed how fast these puppies learn things. Only a week ago today, their eyes were opening, then hearing came in, and almost immediately after that, they started walking on all four's. Now, they're starting to play and become more aware of their litter mates, they're exploring their new surroundings, plus they're starting to bond with Dru and I a little more each day.
After eating, several of the girls crawled up in my lap and fell asleep, while the rest cuddled up to my leg.
Another first for pups today, was the introduction of puppy gruel. I spent over an hour grinding up their dog food , in the food processor. I'm hoping I made enough to get them through this next week. Puppy gruel, is finely ground dog food, (I use Canidae, Lamb & and Rice, All Life Stages) with enough goats milk and water added to make a mush. In a day or two, I'll start adding cottage cheese or yogurt also. The puppies took to it instantly, feet and all!
A new hang-out/sleeping area, was also put in today. The whelping box (or pool) was taken out, newspapers put down on the floor, a large kennel brought in, and also some pads laid out on the floor, for them to lay on, if they don't want to be in the crate. All of this is surrounded by two x-pens hooked together to make a large space for pups to play in.
They should start eliminating on the newspapers, and not on the bedding where they sleep. Fingers crossed on that one!
Below, you'll find new pictures of each puppy, along with their new "call" name. Some of the names might stick with them for life, others will be changed. It's totally up to their new owners, what they'd like their puppy to be named.
Black/white boy, Rooney
If you watched the video, from my previous post, you know the talent Rooney possesses while nursing!
Liver/white boy, Redford
Black/white, teal girl, Taylor
Liver/white, dark blue girl, Novak. Novak has "hand painted" spots.
I love the great outdoors, whether it's spending time in my own backyard, or the wide open spaces of the plains of Kansas, or my favorite, the mountains of Colorado. I love the beauty all around us that God so graciously created.
Our three dalmatians are a big part of husband, Dru, and my life. We spend countless hours with them, cuddled up on the couch, running errands with them in the car, or camping and hiking with them. They are our constant companions.
We have 14 grandchildren, whom we love and get a lot of pleasure from. They are life's greatest entertainment and blessing. Some of them, we don't get to see often enough, but 6 of them live here in the Springs, so it's fun getting to see school programs and the different activities that they are involved in.
Dru and I have been married for almost 8 years. We dated in High School, back in Greensburg, Kansas. 32 years later, we reconnected on classmates.com. He is the love of my life and the most wonderful man on planet earth!
